The sale, by Germany-based global group DEKRA, of its South African non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection company DEKRA Industrial RSA, to local consortium Raysonics Investment, has now been publicly announced, although the sale was finalised late last November. Raysonics Investment was formed by veteran South African NDT and industrial inspection professionals. DEKRA sold the unit as a result of the group’s strategic decision to focus on Europe, Asia and North America. DEKRA Industrial RSA will now be renamed and rebranded as Raysonics Industrial. (Raysonics was the company’s original name, until it was acquired by DEKRA, over a decade ago.)   

“By transferring ownership to a highly capable and experienced local consortium, we ensure continuity for employees and clients,” assured DEKRA Industrial RSA country manager Lothar Weihofen. “The rebranding to Raysonics Industrial reflects the company’s roots and ensures the business continues to thrive locally as a powerful brand synonymous with quality, safety expertise and credibility in the NDT and inspection sector.”

Through this acquisition, the company will proudly return to its original name and legacy, while transitioning into an exciting new era under committed South African ownership.”

The company will keep its current staff, management team and service portfolio. This will ensure uninterrupted service delivery to its clients, who operate in key economic sectors including construction, energy, mining and petrochemicals. The services it provides included advanced NDT, materials testing, inspection, rope access, corrosion control, asset integrity and lifting services.

Both Raysonics and DEKRA are examining continued collaboration, to facilitate knowledge-sharing and to secure access to global inspection and NDT best practices.
